About Me.
Interesting Factoid:
I am an absolute film geek and will most likely inundate students with cheesy film quotes throughout the year! |
I grew up in the state of Washington, in what used to be a small town in the shadow of Mt. Rainier. In the summertime, all the neighborhood kids picked berries, daffodils and tulips to earn some extra money to spend at the arcade. In the winters, we headed up to the mountain for some serious sledding and snowball fights.
Somehow, in the late 1990’s, I ended up on the other side of the country, attending North Carolina State University. After graduating with a degree in Anthropology and Film Production, I began working for a local news organization. This experience motivated me to return to NCSU to pursue licensure as a Social Studies teacher. In 2005, I began my teaching career with Wake County Public Schools. In 2008 I decided to take some time away from the classroom to focus on raising my daughter (and my son, a super squishy pug). I returned to teaching in 2015, successfully helping to establish the foundations of a new local charter school. It is now, with great excitement, that I return to my teaching roots at WCPSS. Interesting Factoid:
I grew up near Mt. St. Helens and still have a jar of volcanic ash from the 1980 eruption. We rode our Big Wheels through the ash all day! |
